Title:  The Awesome Privilege of Being a Parent, Guardian and/or Caregiver
Author:  Gloria Cotton
Dated:  October 24, 2009

I'm speaking to those who have, will have or have had the awesome privilege of giving and sharing love and care with children and other loved ones.

What a privilege.  Along with the privilege comes an equally powerful and awesome responsibility and opportunity.  It is simply, and complicatedly (is that a word?) this:

To prepare the environment (your heart, mind, body and spirit) before the arrival of your loved one and that you maintain it for as long as they are in your life.  The preparation I speak of is not about the furniture and artwork, nor the doo-dads that reflect personality and excitement.  There are three things that the Lord of the Akashic Records shared with me that we are asked to remember, live by, communicate and allow to influence and guide our thoughts and actions with and for our loved ones.  At all times (when you are coaching, guiding or correcting them, when you understand them and when you don't, when it's easy and when it's challenging) they should know, feel and experience unquestioningly that:

1.  They are welcome.  You are excited that they are with you. That you and all beings in creation are indescribably blessed because they are with you.  That it is your honor, blessing and humble privilege to be in their lives and to have this ongoing opportunity.

2.  They are loved unconditionally.  You will always be there for them, providing support and non-judgmental, unconditional love.  That you are an ever-present, unyielding, limitless and ceaseless source of nourishment for their heart, mind, spirit and body.  That they can always turn to you knowing that your words and actions are always for their highest good and that you will always be there.  That they are safe to be who and all they are with you.  And that your only need and expectation is that they know, feel and experience that love at all times.

3.  They are perfect, just as they are.  That whatever physical, emotional or mental abilities and forms they have brought with them or experience, all are in keeping with their spiritual and lifetime/existence contract.  That everything about them has been given so that they and all those connected with them may rise and live in their highest good.

Our Divine Creator, our Holy Parent, Source, God gives each of us these three things in inexhaustible supply.  These are our guidelines for loving others as well as ourselves.

Amen.
